On October 6th, the DC Honor Chorus kicked off for the 2021-2022 season! This year, we have added a new song sourcing program for 20+ 5th grade DCPS students. With guidance from their own teachers, this expanded program will reach more students and provide the opportunity to explore their creative passions.
The music created from this imitative will be performed on-stage by the full Honor Chorus in the spring. CCW has also expanded our scope to include middle school students in additional songwriting activities. We look forward to sharing more achievements from the Honor Chorus all season long!
More About The Honor Chorus
The DC Honor Chorus is a collaborative arts education initiative between Children’s Chorus of Washington (CCW) and District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS). Students in grades 3-5 participate in a city-wide chorus led by CCW staff and supported by DCPS music faculty. All student participants learn and perform relevant, engaging, and culturally responsive repertoire. The 2020-2021 Honor Chorus was conducted completely virtually; check out the final video recorded by choristers last season embedded below.
