Thursday was my favorite day of the trip so far. We didn’t have a concert that day so instead we visited the Alhambra. The Alhambra is a fortress and palace that is regarded as one of the best preserved palaces of the historic Islamic world. As we toured the palace and its grounds we learned that squatters occupied the palace up until Washington Irving brought attention to it in 1832. As you scroll through the photos try to find the following Islamic symbols and details within the architecture!
After the beautiful (and extremely hot) tour it was time to explore Granada in smaller groups. My group personally did a lot of shopping and noticed lots of souvenirs with Moroccan and Islamic influences! Later, we were given some free time and most chose to spend it by the pool. Overall it was a great day with a fair balance of interesting sightseeing and retail therapy Hasta luego!
